Aw, don't knock the li'l guy. I'm sure it likewise sucks on toast to read today, but I'm forever hunting a one-shot back-up feature called "Batty." Batty was a ugly little bat dressed like a certain popular TV camp-humor show (think Adam West as drawn by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth). Batty was always out to perform some grand criminal act, but accidentally saving the day, much to his chagrin. His sidekick was a mug-faced hornet (green, of course).
