THE LEGION OF SUPERHEROES ADVENT CALENDAR - DAY TWENTY-ONE

Adventure Comics vol.1 No.354 (March 1967)
“Some I’ve never heard of!”

A grim visit to the 30th century by an adult Superman includes a tour of the Legion’s mausoleum of fallen heroes. The ominous assortment of statues lent a mortal appeal to the Legion’s sometimes-daffy adventures, but did lock in some fates which had to be written around (of the four Legionnaires actually depicted sufficiently to be identified, two of them experienced fake deaths – making their memorials standing amidst the genuine monuments more than a little tacky).

Of course, as 20th century heroes, Superman and his cousin Supergirl’s statues would most likely be on display, providing that their deaths occurred in their native era (which, as we know for one of them – it did).

I guess it's good what Chemical King did for World War VII, but too bad the legionnaires failed with wars 3, 4, 5 and 6.
