The vine-swinging, loincloth-bearing jungle superheroes always had the best names; Zangar, Jun-Gal, Gay-Ree, Ki-Gor, Rulah, Rima, Nyoka and, of course, Jo-Jo.

Hey, Jon! I remember seeing this comic when I was a kid, not having the money to buy it, and finding it gone when I came back. Can you tell me anything at all about the art? I would bet my family's eyes (sorry, guys) that this cover was inked by Frank Giacoia, but I can't identify the penciller. Larry Lieber, maybe?
It's definitely Giacoia on inks, probably Jack Katz on pencils, same as the interior.

loved this skywald take on tarzan. only they would try this one. zangar is actually a American actor playing tarzan on location in Africa who gets a bump on the nogging which induces amnesia and a delutional state in which he actually thinks he's the lord of the jungle. the first brain damaged, mentally ill jungle swinger maybe?
If I am not mistaken, Edgar Rice Burroughs used a Tarzan double at least once in a story. I don't think he was an actor (he was an exact physical double for him), but amnesia and amazing coincidences (example: two people traveling from the opposite sides of the African continent would meet somewhere, just at the right time) were common plot points in Burroughs' stories. Of course, the same kinds of things would happen in many other pulp stories as well.
